Barack Obama is at the center of a major October surprise roiling the 2026 midterm election.
This political dynamite could cost Democrats the election.
And Barack Obama got blindsided by this ugly terror connection.
Democrats need to win four GOP-held seats to claim the majority in the US Senate.
But that assumes Democrats don’t lose any seats of their own.
That’s now in major doubt thanks to Abdul El-Sayed out in Michigan.
El-Sayed is a Muslim socialist that Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez pushed to the nomination.
But large swaths of the Democrat base rejected El-Sayed, specifically black voters.
El-Sayed only won the primary by one point, when polls showed him down by double digits, mainly due to severely underperforming with black voters.
That skepticism carried over to the general election as a Washington Post Scholars poll showed him only winning 67 percent of the black vote, a catastrophic number for any Democrat.
Black voters are rejecting El-Sayed in large part over El-Sayed supporting the “uncommitted movement,” which encouraged Democrats to vote uncommitted in the 2024 election in Michigan to protest Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ support for the war in Gaza.
“Some in the room already liked El-Sayed. But most had voted for his Democratic primary opponent, Rep. Haley Stevens. Before El-Sayed spoke, the moderator, Monica G. Anthony, had already indicated part of the reason why: his support for the “uncommitted movement” in 2024, which many Black Democrats believed had weakened Harris on her way to losing Michigan. Some Black Democrats experienced that campaign, which demanded an end to U.S. support for Israel’s assault on Gaza, as an attack on a historic candidate they desperately wanted to elect. (Last month, in an apparent effort to help mend the wound, Harris traveled to Michigan to campaign for El-Sayed.),” Slate reported.
To shore up the black vote, El-Sayed called in Barack Obama for a rally.
But days before Obama appeared with El-Sayed, the shocking news dropped that El-Sayed’s sister-in-law, Mariam Jukaku, sued Barack Obama over his administration placing her on a terror watch list.
“There’s reporting in a lawsuit that now backs it up. And documentation with the lawsuit that Mariam Jukaku, who’s your sister-in-law, was on the terrorist watch list?” Fox News senior correspondent Mike Tobin asked.
“Yeah,” El-Sayed replied.
El-Sayed claimed his sister won her suit and was an innocent victim.
“She did nothing wrong and was captured on that and then sued and got off,” El-Sayed added.”You’ve got this system where folks are guilty until proven innocent because they’ve got different kinds of names, because of the infrastructure that people like Mike Rogers set up.”
But the truth is more complicated, as an appeals court tossed out the verdict.
“El-Sayed said she sued and won, but a federal appeals court overturned a ruling favoring the plaintiffs in 2021. A separate lawsuit seeking damages was dismissed in 2017.
Despite El-Sayed’s claim that she sued and won, a federal appeals court overturned a ruling favoring the plaintiffs in 2021, while a separate lawsuit seeking damages was dismissed in 2017,” Fox News reported.
Homeland Security wouldn’t comment on the matter.
“It is the U.S. government’s policy to neither confirm nor deny a person’s inclusion in the Terrorist Screening Dataset, commonly known as the terrorist watchlist,” a statement from Homeland Security to Fox News read.
This isn’t the only terrorism allegation El-Sayed is facing.
His sister tweeted about his mother’s activism with the Muslim Brotherhood in the 1970s.
