It’s crunch time in the 2026 midterm election.

Republicans are fighting to protect their House and Senate majorities.

And John Kennedy proposed one bold move that could solve Trump’s biggest crisis.

Republicans and Democrats are locked in a dogfight over control of Congress.

The number one issue facing voters is affordability.

Democrats believe voters will ignore their socialist candidates and agenda and instead focus on the rising price of gasoline that resulted from the war with Iran.

Iran closing the Strait of Hormuz spiked gasoline prices to over $4 a gallon and boosted Democrats’ chances for victory.

Speaking to Fox News host Will Cain, Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) pitched the idea that America already won the war due to destroying Iran’s nuclear program as well as its army, and there was no more point in negotiating with them, so it was time to let China, Iran’s chief benefactor, force Iran to open the strait.

“I think that the people running Iran are reptiles, and they’re part of a colony of reptiles, China, North Korea, Russia, and — as I said — Iran. The chief reptile, the quarterback, is President Xi in China. You can’t trust any of them. All four of them are the same,” Kennedy stated.

Kennedy argued China, as well as Russia, had all the incentive in the world to pressure Iran to open the strait.

“The truth is, Will, in my judgment, we have accomplished all of our goals. We’ve also knocked out their air defenses. And our intelligence is so good that we will know, within minutes, if Iran starts its nuclear program again, and we can bomb it again. They have no nuclear weapons program. The only problem in all of this is the Strait of Hormuz. China could open it tomorrow if it told Iran to. China is choosing not to. And, at some point, the president’s going to have to decide whether, having achieved all of our objectives, it’s time to come home and let China and Russia and North Korea and Europe and all of the other countries that refuse to help take a crack at it because they’re going to pay the price of a closed strait even more than America,” Kennedy added.

Polls show the war is unpopular and a drag on GOP chances.

Republicans running in key races are joining Kennedy in calling for an end to the war.

“Iran cannot have a nuke, but I’ve always said that we need to use every resource at our disposal to bring this war to an end quickly,” John James, the Republican running for Governor in Michigan, told reporters.

“I just believe that we should be exiting Iran, that it’s time to move on.” Wisconsin Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Tiffany stated, adding that it’s  “time to come home, take care of business here in America.” 

House Speaker Mike Johnson’s number one job is protecting the GOP’s majority.

And Johnson also supported Trump ending the war to get gas prices down.

“It’s been a priority and an objective of every administration, for nearly 50 years, to ensure that Iran didn’t have a nuclear capability. Now that’s done. Operation Epic Fury was an epic success.… The world is safer because of it,” Johnson declared.

“But now we’ve got to bring that to a resolution,” Johnson went on to say.
