Both political parties are beginning to turn their attention towards the 2028 Presidential Election.
President Trump thinks he has an ace in the hole.
And Trump saw the results of one 2028 poll that hit him like a hurricane.
As American Patriot Daily reports:
One of President Trump’s favoured pastimes is polling advisors, supporters, donors, and Mar-a-Lago guests to judge the opinion in the room before he makes a major decision.
And one of the biggest decisions soon confronting President Trump is naming a successor to the MAGA movement who will lead the GOP into the 2028 election as the Republican Party nominee.
Speaking to police officers at the Rose Garden event for National Police Week, Trump asked the crowd what they thought of both Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the two most talked-about names to succeed him as leader of the Republican Party.
Both names drew applause, and Trump floated the two as a “dream ticket” that would defeat the Democrats in 2028.
“Who likes J.D. Vance? Who likes Marco Rubio? All right. Sounds like a good ticket. J.D. is a perfect — that was a perfect ticket,” the president stated. “By the way, I do believe that’s a dream team. But these are minor details. That does not mean you have my endorsement under any circumstances. But you know … I think it sounds like presidential candidate and vice presidential candidate.”
Vance addressed the speculation the following day at a White House event, where the anti-fraud task force he led announced it was cracking down on billions of dollars in scams targeting taxpayers.
The Vice President brushed off the idea of running in 2028, saying Trump was just acting like the former Apprentice host and having some fun.
“I just don’t think it sounds like the president of the United States to have a televised competition for who would succeed him as his apprentice,” Vance stated.
“I just think that’s not at all what you would expect the president to do,” Vance added.
“I think it’s natural for him to joke around with us a little bit to play around with the idea. But I can tell you the president is as focused as any of us on making sure we do as good of a job now for the American people,” Vance concluded.
Rubio is a favourite of the establishment, and Republican insiders are trying to create a groundswell on social media to push Rubio into running in 2028.
For his part, Rubio declared he would be the “first one” to endorse Vance if Vance announces his Presidential campaign.
Trump also saw the clear divide in how, when he polled people in private about Rubio and Vance, that Rubio was the favourite of donors, but that the rank-and-file police officers at the event chose Vance.
“The president has actually done several snap polls in recent weeks, a source familiar with the matter tells WIRED. The results have been notable, they say: When Trump polled donors at Mar-a-Lago, they favoured Rubio. But when Trump recently polled a group of law enforcement officers that the White House thinks are perhaps more representative of regular voters, they favoured Vance,” Wired reported.
The polling data backs up Trump’s interactions, as polls show that Republican voters overwhelmingly favour J.D. Vance as the next GOP nominee for President.
