This is the doomsday scenario Democrats were dreading.
President Trump pressed the “go” button.
And Trump just unleashed one secret weapon to obliterate the Democrat Party for generations.
President Trump issued an executive order to prevent the government from counting illegal aliens in the 2030 census.
There are tens of millions of illegal aliens currently counted in the decennial apportionment that determines Congressional District lines and how many Electoral College votes each state has.
Journalist Mark Halperin told podcaster Benny Johnson that if the Supreme Court upholds Trump’s order, Democrats will be locked out of power unless they take drastic measures.
“This big casino stuff. This is just massive implications for policy, politics, government campaigns, national identity,” Halperin began.
Halperin went on to say this order represented an existential threat to the Democrat Party’s ability to win elections.
“I’m not as confident as you are about how the court would rule, but I can tell you, of course, it would get to them, and then the next president would do, if it were a Democrat, would do everything she or he could to try to undo it if it is still enforced by then,” Halperin said.
Halperin also said that if Democrats win in 2026 and 2028, they would certainly nuke the filibuster, since that would be the only way to override a Supreme Court ruling upholding Trump’s census-counting instructions.
“So the stakes are very high; it’s from a political hardball point of view, it’s one of the more aggressive moves the president will have made, but from a policy point of view and from a national identity point of view, it’s a super interesting topic, but hardball politics. This would be devastating to Democrats, as you suggested,” Halperin continued.
If Democrats eliminate the filibuster, they will pack the Supreme Court, grant amnesty to illegal aliens, and add multiple new blue states like Washington, DC, and Puerto Rico.
Johnson asked Halperin if Democrats supported diluting the votes of American citizens by counting illegal aliens in the census for ideological reasons or if this was a mere power play.
Halperin replied that it was a little bit of both.
“I mean, it’s ideological, but for some of them, it’s just, again, just pure power,” Heparin declared.
“Well, it’s not just districts; it’s also the states. It’s also the apportionment of electoral votes,” Halperin remarked.
Halperin agreed that counting illegal aliens in the census allows Democrats to pad the Electoral College vote count in blue states and draw safe Congressional seats that Republicans could otherwise win.
“As I said, I don’t use the phrase “big casino” lightly,” Halperin said to Johnson.
This order is the greatest threat to the Democrat Party holding power.
Halperin explained that “It’s as big as anything else because of its implications for who controls power. Democrats, of all the frustrations the Democrats have that don’t relate directly to Donald Trump, they’re built-in disadvantage in the Electoral College because of the red states is it’s right up there. They just they’re desperate to find a solution to that.”
