Fox News host Laura Ingraham is normally supportive of President Trump.
But one interview turned testy.
And Laura Ingraham asked Trump one question that Trump hated hearing.
Republicans are working to reverse a polling trend that shows Democrats are favored to win control of Congress in November.
In an interview with Trump, Ingraham pressed Trump on the status of the Iran War.
“The Iran war,” Ingraham began, “conflict, military conflict. Um, there’s a lot of back and forth lately. Obviously, they’re firing on our ships, our Navy ships, or attempting to.”
Trump replied by noting that the current hostilities are America’s response to Iranian attacks by blowing up its oil tankers.
“No, we knocked out nine of their tankers,” Trump asserted.
Trump went on to tell Ingraham that the war would end “right after the election.”
Ingraham wasn’t so sure and pressed Trump on a Wall Street Journal report that “said that [Secretary of State Marco] Rubio and [Vice President JD] Vance believe the conflict could go on after the next presidential election — until January 2029.”
Trump then doubled down on the war ending after the election and maintained that Iran had no ability to fight back,
“I’m not gonna say when, but I think it ends right after the election,” Trump stated. “They’re limping along. They’re in deep trouble.”
Ingraham then questioned how Iran was able to launch a recent missile strike on American bases in the region if their military was “decimated.”
“How are they getting off missiles?” Ingraham wondered. “I thought we decimated them.”
Ingraham then told Trump that if he hadn’t launched the Iran war, gas would be plummeting to barely over $2 a gallon and Republicans would be sitting in the catbird seat for the midterms.
“If we hadn’t done Iran, you’d be cruising to midterm victory,” Ingraham stated. “$2.25 gas. I mean, you’d be cruising.”
“Well, you don’t know that,” Trump shot back.
“Any regrets?” Ingraham asked.
“No,” Trump responded. “I don’t believe in the word regret. You can always question yourself a little bit.”
Trump then revealed he knew Ingraham opposed the decision to go to war with Iran, but that he chose the course of action that he did because he believed it was necessary to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
“I know you are against the war and all that,” Trump concluded. “I know you very well, and I think it’s fine, but I don’t know how you could be, because Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon, and if I didn’t do what I did, they would have a nuclear weapon.”
