Clarence Thomas almost never sits down for interviews.
He made an exception for Ted Cruz.
And what Thomas told him explains why the left’s smear campaign against him failed.
As American Patriot Daily reports:
Thomas told Cruz he only agreed to the interview because it was Cruz.
“I have no idea,” Thomas told Cruz after the Senator asked him about how often he does interviews like this. “I think so. I don’t normally do any sort of — I don’t do much media-type things, so, but you’re you.”
Thomas admitted he appeared on Cruz’s podcast as a way to say thank you when Cruz defended him from a fake scandal the liberal media invented to try and gin up the grounds for Democrats to impeach him and pack the Supreme Court to create a liberal majority.
In 2023, ProPublica reported that Thomas didn’t report travel gifts from donor Harlan Crow even though Thomas was under no legal obligation to do so.
“For more than two decades, Thomas has accepted luxury trips virtually every year from the Dallas businessman without disclosing them, documents and interviews show,” the report read. “A public servant who has a salary of $285,000 has vacationed on Crow’s superyacht around the globe. He flies on Crow’s Bombardier Global 5000 jet. He has gone with Crow to the Bohemian Grove, the exclusive California all-male retreat, and to Crow’s sprawling ranch in East Texas. And Thomas typically spends about a week every summer at Crow’s private resort in the Adirondacks.”
Thomas told Cruz that he stood firm in Thomas’s defense at a time when other establishment Republicans went wobbly or were nowhere to be found.
“You’re one of the people who actually stand up, particularly at times when others seem to wither, and I appreciate it,” Thomas explained. “And more personally, when we, my wife and I, were under attack for obvious reasons, you and Sen. Mike Lee and some of the other friends would stand up. Senator [John] Kennedy, etc. So I really appreciate that.”
Cruz thanked Thomas for his kind words and said he was honored that Thomas would pay him a compliment, considering Thomas is considered a giant in the conservative legal movement and one of the greatest Supreme Court Justices that ever lived.
“Justice, that is very kind of you, and especially for you to observe that I stand up in the face of criticism and attacks; that is, that is powerful coming from you because you’re someone who knows what that’s like and has done so in a way that has been world-changing,” Cruz stated.
Ever since President George H.W. Bush nominated Thomas in 1991, the left has been running smear campaigns to destroy him.
Anita Hill’s false allegations of sexual harassment were the first plot to ruin Thomas.
The ProPublica report was just the latest.
And what all these anti-Thomas schemes have in common is that they failed.
