Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is constantly looking over his shoulder.
Schumer fears a revolt from the left that will cost him his job.
And Chuck Schumer fears this Democrat the most, and it’s not who you think it is.
Speaking at a Club for Growth Energy Summit in Houston, Texas, Senator Ted Cruz told the crowd that Congress should be able to easily pass permitting reform legislation to open up new construction for American energy projects, but for the fact that Senate Democrats fear their radical base, which actually wants to destroy the oil and natural gas industry so they can usher in the Green New Deal.
“That dynamic is dangerous right now because they are terrified of the extreme left. Finding a middle ground on ideological issues right now is… the prospects for success, particularly between now and election day, are not high,” Cruz stated.
Cruz noted that Senate Democrats are running scared after watching Democrat Socialist of America candidates sweep to victory in primaries this spring and summer.
“They’re in the middle of a revolution,” Cruz added. “Their problem is that they’re very driven by their interest groups. They’re captured by their activists.”
Most figured Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is the one driving this fear among Schumer and Senate Democrats since it’s believed that Schumer is most terrified of Ocasio-Cortez challenging him in a primary in 2028.
But Cruz explained that it’s actually New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani – who went 3 for 3 in Congressional primary endorsements in New York – who is driving the Islamist Communist surge on the left that has Schumer panicking to placate them by blocking permitting reform.
“It is not the case that every Senate Democrat is a Marxist or Islamist. What is the case is that every Senate Democrat is terrified of the Marxists and Islamists. Because that’s where the energy is in their party, that’s where the power is, that’s where the money is; it’s where the young people are. I think Mamdani is the single most powerful Democrat in the country,” Cruz declared.
“Look, Schumer is known for a lot of things, but acts of principle and courage are not among them,” Cruz added.
Ohio Senator Bernie Moreno explained that Schumer and the Democrats blocking permitting reform out of fear of Mamdani and the base have real costs to the American people.
That’s because limiting the supply of energy projects drives up costs for the American people.
It’s the simple supply-and-demand rules of economics.
“When it comes to permitting reform, if we can actually pull this off, Scott, what does it mean? It means lower energy prices for all Americans, us taking better care of our environment, and being good stewards for the next generation. Those are worthy goals that should unite all of us, and I’m hopeful that we can get that done,” Moreno stated.
