Leftists like Schiff don’t want Americans to remember that inflation kicked in under Joe Biden, and President Trump is still cleaning up the fallout from Biden’s skyrocketing prices.
Schiff tried to do his part by attacking Trump for hosting IndyCar’s Freedom250 Grand Prix in Washington, which was part of America’s 250th anniversary celebration.
In a post on social media, Schiff attempted to paint Trump starting the race by waiving the green flag as a “let them eat cake” moment.
“While you struggle with the cost of gas, Trump offers you the spectacle of an IndyCar race, hoping you will not notice,” Schiff wrote.
Schiff then claimed the event was a taxpayer-funded boondoggle to serve as a monument to Trump’s ego.
“More taxpayer money spent on his self-aggrandizing distractions. And you get higher taxes and higher costs,” Trump added.
Driver Graham Rahal fact-checked Schiff and noted that Freedom250 was privately funded
“No, no, Adam. He wanted you to notice and bask in the pride of being American, watch great racing and patriotism on display,” Rahal posted on social media.
Rahal also jabbed Schiff by reminding him that the event drew thousands of spectators to Washington who pumped money into the local economy by staying in hotels and eating in restaurants.
“Not only that, this was privately funded, not government, although it drove thousands of folks to the DC area that have never been. That’s economic impact for you,” Rahal added.
“And guess what, hundreds of thousands of Americans, blue & red, as well as fans from all over the world loved the Freedom250,” Rahal continued.
The Penske Corporation picked up the tab for the event.
Penske President Bud Denker said, “We are” when NBC’s Washington affiliate asked who was paying for the Grand Prix.
Denker explained that what he meant was that the company raised money to fund the race by attracting sponsorships and that they were losing money on the race.
“When I say vast, the only part we’re not paying is, we’re raising some revenue by having sponsors with the suites I’m building [along the course],” Denker stated while also admitting that the race was not a “break-even” event.
The White House couldn’t pass up the opportunity to dunk on Schiff for being wrong in such spectacular fashion.
“It’s a complete disgrace that Pencil-Neck Adam Schiff is willing to trash the United States of America during its historic 250th birthday celebrations simply because he hates President Trump,” White House spokesman Davis Ingle stated.
“The great people of California deserve better,” Ingle declared.
