And Trump is about to break one piece of news to JD Vance that will change history.
Ever since the start of Trump’s second term, the GOP establishment has been pushing Trump to endorse Secretary of State Marco Rubio as his 2028 successor over JD Vance.
Rubio wrote the 2013 Gang of 8 Amnesty bill and supports neconservative foreign policy.

Trump previously would poll friends and advisors about Vance or Rubio for 2028.
But that’s over with, and according to MS NOW, Trump has made up his mind to endorse Vance if Vance runs for President in 2028.
“For months, Trump treated Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio as something like rival contestants, polling aides and donors on the two men and floating each as a possible heir without tipping his hand,” reads the report. “In recent weeks, that has stopped, according to five people familiar with the president’s running commentary on the race to succeed him in 2028,” MS NOW reported.
“It’s become, ‘JD’s our guy, we gotta help JD,’” a senior Trump official told the outlet.
Vance won Trump’s support with a media tour that took him to Bill Maher’s show, Megyn Kelly’s podcast and The View, where Vance parried tough questions, defended Trump’s memorandum of understanding to temporarily end the Iran War and came off as an able and affable communicator.
“People familiar with Trump’s shift pointed to a specific inflection point: Vance’s press tour for his new memoir, “Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith,” about his 2019 conversion to Catholicism.
The tour took Vance to ABC’s “The View,” where the reception was warm enough that co-host Ana Navarro asked co-host Joy Behar why she was “so in love with” him. He also sat for an interview with Bill Maher on HBO’s “Real Time”; Maher later said he would be open to voting for Vance in 2028. He logged extensive time on Fox News — the president’s preferred cable news channel. And he appeared on Megyn Kelly’s podcast, where he criticized the infighting within the MAGA movement over the war in Iran as “very immature,” MS NOW’s report went on to say.
For his part, Rubio has long maintained he will be the first one to endorse Vance if Vance runs for President.
“I think JD Vance would be a great nominee… if he decides he wants to do that,” Rubio said in an interview with Lara Trump.
“I think he’s doing a great job as vice president. He’s a close friend, and I hope he intends to do it,” Rubio continued.
