The 2026 midterm elections are five months away.

It’s not too soon to start reading the tea leaves.

And a top pollster told Sean Hannity disturbing 2026 news that hit him like a ton of bricks.

The real battle in 2026 is for control of the U.S. Senate.

Democrats need to flip four GOP seats to seize the majority.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer would signal the end of the Trump Presidency, as Democrats would block all Trump nominees and even go so far as to block a Supreme Court pick through the 2028 election in hopes that Democrats win the White House.

Real Clear Politics currently shows Democrats leading on the Congressional generic ballot poll question by 6.8 points.

But Democrats are running controversial candidates in Maine and Michigan, leading some Republicans to believe the most likely outcome in November is Republicans actually gaining a Senate seat.

“My contacts in the Trump political machine are openly speaking about gaining a seat in the Senate right now,” WMAL radio host Larry O’Connor said on Mark Halperin’s 2way platform. “They’re looking at the numbers, and they think they’re gaining a seat.”

Sean Hannity asked pollster Matt Towery about the Republicans flipping Democrat held seats in New Hampshire or Michigan.

Towery didn’t sound optimistic on that front and pointed to turnout in the primaries, where even in red states as many as 150,000 more Democrats showed up to vote than Republicans.

“Well, right now, I’ll tell you Sean, it is too early for us to say,” Towery began.

Towery argued Republicans faced a real enthusiasm gap and to win, the GOP needed to counteract the liberal media’s fake news about President Trump and present the administration’s achievements to the voters.

“I think more has to be done now to lay the groundwork. And I’ll also say one other thing. I don’t think enough of President Trump’s achievements are being put out there for the general public to see. They see this — this barrage that’s created by the liberal media. They hear nothing but war. The president has achieved phenomenal things, including, by the way, the stock market hitting another record, I think today,” Towery added.

Towery warned Hannity to know that it was time to get a move on in terms of making the case to the voters, because he cautioned that the fall would be too late.

“But you don’t hear about it, and I think Republicans need to start making that case whether they have to buy ads or whatever, right now, because it’ll be too late in October and November,” Towery concluded.

Polls currently show Democrats leading Senate races in Alaska, North Carolina, and Maine.

Republican seats like Ohio and Iowa could be in play.

GOP candidate Mike Rogers narrowly leads his Democratic opponents in Michigan.

But midterm elections are base mobilization elections.

And Matt Towery is sounding the alarm that Democrats are fired up to vote, and Republicans can’t waste any more time providing a reason for the conservative base to show up.
